I'm hearin ya!,,,might need to tape my hands to the grips in case she fires me off the back!...Its done 9000kms so will need tyres I'm thinking...metzeler front and a Bridgestone rear I think...they chew thru tyres quicker than the birds, some say around 6000kms for a rear? depending how much you twist the juice stick!!

And for you Irish...

I was riding a 2010 rocket with the missus on the back the other day and without any "WARNING OF ANY KIND " the ass end fell away and we went sliding down the road minus the bike . The bike ended up only 15 metres from us . I checked the bike out and found the rear tyre flat . Has anyone ever had a rear tyre deflate "instantly" before . We were about to enter a roundabout we were not leaning over and did not have any power on . We were coasting at 40km then suddenly bang we were on the road getting grated no drift , no slip, no drift just bang and we were on the road . Any feedback would be appreciated .cheers Dave .

Did you look at the tire to see how big the hole or cut in it was??? It's possible you picked up somethin in the tire, but didn't notice it,which slowly allowed air to escape, then falling out at that particular moment, allowing the tire to immediately deflate. Look at the tire closely and report back! Dave!!!

Got a plan rolling for the upcoming Rocket. First there will be tyres front and rear, followed by aftermarket triumph mufflers and a cycleworks cat eliminator....this will happen on Monday. Tuesday I will get the power commander fitted and put the bike on the dyno and get her running dead right( If the pcv arrives in time)...cant bloody wait now...havin trouble sleeping...these bikes are like a drug...the more you dabble the more you dabble!!

I had the rear deflate a few months back on the freeway at 80 MPH. Something sliced a 1-5" or 2" long cut in it. It deflated quickly but the bike just got a bit squirrely but nothing real scary. Maybe it has to do with your riding 2 up when it happened? I dunno how heavy you and the missus combined are, but i'm only 170 so with another body and especially if either or both of you are heavy, i can see that making a huge difference. As much as the difference between your experience and mine, no idea. Hope you and the missus are ok !

Agreed, with a passenger, even a light one, you have a substantial shift in the center of gravity, especially if they are leaned back a bit.

Rode my Storm into the dealers yesterday, maybe for the last time, and was thinking..Damn! I love this bike!...dropped her there and my cobber picked me up and we travelled for an hour (now raining!).Long story short, an hour later I was riding my new Bike home! 2014 Rocket 3 imported from the states. You know, the front tyre is worn more on the left than the front and i'm guessing its the camber of the road which has done this, as we ride on the left here, the tyre wants to pull slightly to the right. A new set of tyres on Monday will sort this. Today(Sunday) I will be out in the garage working on the Rocket (as you do!)

What a great opportunity to use up the other half of the tire!
Once you put the new one on and use up the right half, you'll have to send it back over so someone can use the left half!
I'll help.

The ride may be fun, but in the Great Scheme of things, it really is about the destination! John 3:16

I know, I'm just messing with you Tal. I've ridden a lot of R-3's. When they first came out in '05. I test rode them and the power is awesome. I've got some friends with R-3 T's and have ridden them and the smoothness is amazing. That engine and power feels more like a sport bike engine it is so smooth and powerful. I hope you enjoy your new bike and don't abandon us for the R-3 site.

Well Tal Ol Mate. "Camber" best of luck Ol Mate as That aint the problem. I got a mate that has 2 x Rocket 3's, A Classic and a Tourer.and just last Sunday he was telling me, Both of them were the LHS of the Front tyre and when Has has enough money left he tries to keep tyres up to the rear end. If you think the bird was heavy on tyres then get used to about 5.500Klms on the rear tyre.

Yeah i'm putting a bridgestone 55 profile on the rear tomorrow and a metzeler on the front. My cobber says I should get around 6000 off the Bridgestone,,,They are a heavy bike hence the wear on the front???...that's the opinion of a few I have spoken to anyhoo,..I removed the cat and installed tors today and its now got a k&n air filter, made a HUGE difference too...gets off its arse bigtime! Tomorrow is the tyres, oil and filter...I aint jumpin ship cos I enjoy the input and humour here...probably go and talk to the guys on the rocket site too tho. Will post some shots as I take them.

Hey no problem. One of my friends uses car tires on his R-3t he gets 25k plus on the rear tires. This is the same guy that previously used car tires on his '13 Trophy also. I personally wouldn't do it but his first R-3 t he put over 84K miles and he rides like hell and is usually hard to keep up with. It's hard to argue with success.
